In its second year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 50 nonprofit organizations across the country. Recipients were selected by employee committees in all five Lozier locations. Over the next couple of months, the recipient organizations’ stories of impact will be shared on LozierLink.
The Lozier Community Grant helped sponsor Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity’s 10-year-running A Brush with Kindness event. 150 volunteers tackled issues at 21 different homes from repainting, roofing to yardwork. Homeowner Lisa Goodpasture was on the receiving end of this year’s Brush with Kindness event, where volunteers helped her reinstate her yard to good standing.
With recent health events, Goodpasture hasn’t been able to get around as well, falling behind on yardwork. Volunteering in events like these in the past, she said it was nice to see things come full circle, this time assisting her.
“It’s hard to ask for help, but Habitat makes it really easy,” Goodpasture said. “They do things that you don’t think about that need done and they go above and beyond for whatever it is you need. They help you figure out what they can do for you, and they have all been extraordinary.”
Lozier’s community grant helped sponsor 2023’s ‘A Brush with Kindness’ event.
Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity serves the community in a multitude of other ways, including building affordable housing, offering home repairs for veterans, the less abled and elderly. Its Restore program resells materials and furniture in good condition at a lower price to the community, where proceeds directly fund its housing efforts.
