For nearly 70 years, ADEC has worked to deliver better education, better opportunities and a better life for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the northern Indiana.
“We typically support nearly 1,100 families and individuals every year,” Courtney Smith, ADEC Community Outreach Manager said. “We can meet everyone at where they need us and support them for the entire life journey.”
A longtime recipient of support from Lozier and the manufacturing team in Middlebury, the Lozier Community Grants program has provided ADEC with financial backing for several years. 2024’s gift went to the Child & Family Services program, creating a sensory room that’s geared toward the different needs children and young people face.
“This sensory rom is going to offer that quiet space that will help them regroup, refocus and still focus on those strong goals that they’re working at during our programming,” Smith said. With the renovated space up and running, ADEC leaders said they’re proud of the longtime support and connection with Lozier, calling the company’s generosity a valuable part of the community.
“We have a very strong connection to Lozier,” Smith said. “It just is a perfect example of the amazing support in our community, how a company like Lozier can look at all that is around them and all that is offered and figure out how we can support them as best as we can.”
