2023 LOZIER COMMUNITY GRANT RECIPIENTS

The Lozier Community Grants benefited 49 non-profits in the five communities where Lozier operates in 2023. These organizations were chosen by a committee made up of every-day Lozier employees.  Watch their stories below.

ADEC

ADEC advocates and serves people with intellectual and development disabilities so that they can make informed choices to meet their dreams, needs and participate in the community.

Babies Basic Needs

Babies Basic Needs has a simple mission: ensure no child goes without basic needs. The organization is able to acquire diapers and fill the needs of infants at a lower cost than consumers can purchase items.

Boys and Girls Club – Middlebury

The Boys and Girls Club of Elkhart County serves youth around the area from first grade to high school seniors. Primarily open after school and during the summer, more than 300 children attend the Middlebury location.

Boys and Girls Club – Scottsboro

Funding from Lozier’s Community Grant program will continue to cover expenses of a new building, allowing the Ben Sanford Branch to expand the number of children in its programs.

Bright Futures

Since 2010, Bright Futures Joplin has provided to children items like clothing, bedding, necessary furniture and snack packs for weekends.

Cahaba Shrine Transportation

The Cahaba Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund is part of the Shriner’s larger effort of providing healthcare for children however possible.

Central Pennsylvania Clinic

The Clinic started as a medical home for special children and adults with disabilities caused by genetic diseases. Dr. Morton took over that vision and built a new clinic providing local care for everyone in the valley with special considerations for Amish patients.

Creative Learning Alliance

Lozier’s Community Grant allows the Creative Learning Alliance to charge no participation fee for its monthly events for one year, allowing free access for all students and parents to learn about STEAM.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

The Jackson County affiliate for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a book gifting program where each month, children from newborn to 5-years-old can receive an age-appropriate book each month.

Fit Girl

FITGirl, Inc. works to empower young girls through outdoor, multi-sport adventures that lead healthy, resilient lives.

Five Star Life

Five Star Life aims to positively influence a child’s mindset to set them up for success through life. The organization believes believe that at the core of each person’s success or failure is mindset.

Flat Rock Community Center

The Flat Rock Community Center and its Food Pantry provides food and assistance to more than 300 families and individuals every month.

Friends of Pumpkinvine

A nature trail has connected communities across northern Indiana for years and the Friends of the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail has worked to ensure the entire trail is protected from street traffic.

Goodwill Industries

Goodwill Industries changes lives and strengthens communities through education, training and work experiences.

Greencroft

Greencroft Middlebury is a nonprofit retirement community in Middlebury, Indiana, offers housing options at all price levels to accommodate individual needs and personal finances.

Habitat for Humanity – Joplin

The Lozier Community Grant helped sponsor Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity’s 10-year-running A Brush with Kindness event.

Habit for Humanity – Middlebury

Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County exists to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Its homeownership program helps low to moderate-income families build their own homes and attain an affordable mortgage.

Healing and Hope

Founded in 1999, the operation offers medical assistance to the uninsured and under-insured, many who fall below federal poverty income levels and don’t primarily speak English.

Heart Ministry

Omaha’s Heart Ministry Center is dedicated to providing food, healthcare and a path forward for people affected by poverty. The facility offers programs and resources for families and individuals.

Heartland Canines for Veterans

The organization provides highly trained service dogs to approved applicants, along with training and resources for veterans and their families.

Heartland Organization of Rocketry

With members from throughout Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota, THOR offers teaching opportunities for rocket fans of all ages, from simple kit models to craft designed to launch tens of thousands of feet into the sky.

Hearts for Bristol

The food pantry is one of many community service lines. Known as the HUB, their goal is to walk alongside families and connect them with the resources they need to thrive and become a stronger community.

Higher Power Garage

Higher Power Garage restores and refurbishes donated autos, selling them at low prices to single parent households, fixed income families, widows, veterans and the disabled.

House of Bah

Working with community partners, Bah-Traore hopes that educating people through foods local to their communities will lead to more diversity and conversation about racial and social divides.

Humane Society of Elkhart County

The Community Boost program provides free vaccinations like rabies and other preventative issues and identifying microchips. More than 800 animals have received care since the creation of this program.

Jackson County Christmas Charities

For about 50 years, caring citizens in Jackson County have worked to make the holidays brighter for underprivileged children and those in need.

Jackson County Rescue

Its second year receiving a Lozier Community Grant, the rescue squad acquired and is outfitting their newest truck bringing reliability and additional hauling capacity to its fleet.

Jacobs Well

Jacob’s Well Ministry Food Pantry is an all-volunteer food pantry, operating in Jackson County for the past decade. The group prepares meals and supplies for more than 250 families in need every month, helping people all across northern Alabama.

Keep Omaha Beautiful

Keep Omaha Beautiful has worked to educate and engage the community to be environmental stewards, ensuring that the city remains well-kept, clean and beautiful.

Kindred Hope

After losing her husband, a veteran, Kaye Bough combined her daughter’s passion of saving horses with her passion of saving those who have served.

Lacasa

Lacasa is a community development co-operation in Elkhart County, Indiana, with six lines of operations, including: financial empowerment, community building and engagement.

Life Resources

Life Resources Services of Jackson County started in 2016 as a place for unhoused, recently incarcerated or those who need help to come and receive a meal, do laundry, learn life skills and more.

Metro Area Youth Foundation

The Metro Area Youth Foundation (MAYF) raises money to provide financial support to families with a child battling pediatric cancer and receiving treatment in Omaha.

Middlebury Food Pantry

Lozier Community Grant program funds aided the Pantry’s summer food program, ensuring that children home from school don’t miss out on any meals.

Mifflin County Fair

Lozier’s Community Grant program funded the purchase and construction of brand-new, all-metal goat pens for the fairgrounds, providing a more safe and secure place for the prize-winning animals to reside in.

Mosiac

Operating in 13 states across the country, Mosaic in Omaha operates to empower people with disabilities, mental and behaviors health needs and aging adults to live their best lives.

Nebraska Children’s Home Society

For 130 years, the Nebraska Children’s Home Society has fought to ensure safe and loving care to children of all ages. Operating a variety of core services including childcare, adoption, foster care and family support.

Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Founded in 2005, the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was initially created to benefit the South Omaha Latino Businesses, but its scope has expanded to include diversity and inclusion in the city and across Nebraska.

Next Chapter

Created through the Nebraska 4-H and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Academic Services and Enrollment management department, the program supports educators helping students prepare for and success in college and life.

Partnership for Hope

The operation offers a variety of support systems for those former foster children, including educational funding and mentorship programs.

Penn Roosevelt State Park

The Lozier Community Grant helped fund some for the constructions costs of the renovated bathroom facilities which haven’t been updated since the new cabin construction.

Scottsboro City Schools

With an increased focus on mental health issues and a need in the community, Scottsboro City Schools will use its Lozier Community Grant funding to support its mental health programs.

Shelter Service

Offering beds for up to 20 men and 20 women, Shelter Service’s goals aim to reduce homelessness, enhance and improve independence and life skills, and has thrift stores providing clothing to everyone and volunteer work experience.

Synder County Coalition for Kids

Snyder County Coalition for Kids has four initiatives serving the underprivileged children in the county. The long-standing organization has been serving children since the 1980s and has four service lines, among them the Children’s Fund.

Table Grace Ministries

For 15 years, Table Grace Ministries has combined creativity, compassion, culinary cuisine and charity to take on the economic struggles many in the Omaha area face.

Veterans Memorial Pool

The Lozier Community Grant program funded a much-needed facilities project, replacing the picnic tables around the Pool property, giving visitors a place to rest and relax while reducing the cost of yearly maintenance.

Watered Gardens

Watered Gardens offers a variety of outreach efforts to people and families seeking to stabilize their lives.

WeIs Strong

WeIsStrong is working to build a network of relief for those men and women braving the fight against cancer with resources and aid.

Women United Ministries

Striving to empower women from all walks of life, Women United Ministries provides a variety of services to support those in need.
