Lozier Community Grants Help Czech and Slovak Education Center and Cultural Museum Preserve National Heritage and History

In its third year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 57 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2024. Recipients were selected by employee committees in all five Lozier locations.

These are the 2024 recipient organizations’ stories of impact shared on LozierLink.

A cultural haven in the middle of Omaha, the Czech and Slovak Education Center and Cultural Museum is preserving its national cultures and heritages. With entry at no cost to visitors, the Czech and Slovak museum offers volunteer-designed exhibits which highlight the nations’ history, ancestry and traditions. An important part of Czech culture, and especially among Czech immigrants to the US was Sokol.

Sokol is an athletic and fraternal organization that spans the world, but was started in the Czech Republic. Omaha had two Sokol organizations in its history, and the Sokol display at the museum and educational center shares their histories. Lozier’s Community Grant supported the preservation of the many Sokol artifacts the museum has, sharing the history of Sokol and its impact on Omaha Czech and Slovak immigrants.
