Lozier donates scrap steel to Metropolitan Community College, supporting area manufacturing programing

Thursday morning, Metropolitan Community College (MCC) picked up more than 6,000lbs of scrap steel for MCC’s campuses around Nebraska, supporting manufacturing programing in the state.

Philip Goldsmith and Aaron Kost, from MCC’s Center for Advance Manufacturing Welding program, picked up the scrap steel from Omaha’s North Plant, loaded by Machine Operator Thanh Nguyen.

The steel will be used to teach students taking training and courses in CNC plasma cutting and welding at the following MCC campuses:

•    MCC – South Campus

•    MCC – Fort Omaha Campus

•    MCC – Blair Campus

•    MCC – Fremont Campus

Part of the donation will also benefit Westside High School’s Welding program where MCC Welding Instructors teach and support the program.

Lozier has a long history working and partnering with education programs at MCC and in Omaha public schools. Earlier this year, the West Plant made a scrap steel donation to MCC that had an immediate impact.
