Several Lozier employees, including members of the company’s Sponsorship for the Trades program, played a proud role in officially unveiling an incredible new facility at Fremont, Nebraska’s high school.
Approved by bond voters in 2021, the Fremont Career Technical Education Center recently completed construction with students set to begin classes there for the 2024-25 school year. Tuesday, the district hosted a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the completed facility, with hundreds of partners and well-wishers in attendance. For Fremont School District Superintendent Mark Shepard, the facility represents a major step in skilled trade education.
“Nebraska needs skilled professionals for these high-wage, high-skill, high-demand jobs,” Shepard said. Metropolitan Community College’s Vice President for Strategic Operations & Initiatives Nate Barry agreed.
“This program has offered high-wage, high-tech, high opportunity jobs with dozens of local companies to hundreds of local students,” Barry said. “With the CTE building, those opportunities will continue for years to come.”
Among those in attendance were a contingent of Fremont-native Lozier employees, with Senior Operations Manager Linn Kroeger and Sponsorship for the Trades participants Sam Wulf, Brandon Gallo and Seth Redding all took part in the ribbon cutting. Supporting the group were a number of education-minded Lozier employees, including Senior Training & Development Specialist Joe Collins, Community Outreach & Engagement Manager Ralph Kleinsmith, HR Generalist I Kassandra Blatchford, and Dr. Susan Toohey from the Lozier Foundation.
Lozier was a staunch supporter of the Fremont CTE Center, contributing fixtures and equipment in use throughout the facility.
The Fremont CTE Center, run in partnership with Metropolitan Community College, offers a variety of dual-credit classes for students in the district, covering skilled trades like Mechatronics, Welding, CAD/CAM, Construction and Automotive, along with other career opportunities like Health and Business classes.
