In its third year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 57 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2024. Recipients were selected by employee committees in all five Lozier locations. These are the 2024 recipient organizations’ stories of impact.
Mifflin County Christian Academy (MCCA) Administrator Craig Todd has a big vision for a historic schoolhouse adjacent to the school’s property. The private K-12 school in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania is completing nearly 40 years of school in the area. The school recently acquired additional property with a schoolhouse that Todd estimates to be around 100 years old.
“We want to renovate and fix it up to preserve the old schoolhouse as a piece of history in our area while making it functional and usable,” Todd said. “Many people who stop by our school mention their parents to grandparents went to school in the old schoolhouse. Instead of destroying the building, we felt we needed to preserve its historical significance and have classes out there again.”
With the help of Lozier’s Community Grant, Todd hopes to see the community come together to rebuild the historic schoolhouse to make it functional and usable to teach classes and some of its history. The renovation has already begun with community help to install a new roof, preserving the rest of the structure. Electrical access, new windows and making the building accessible are next on the list of improvements.
