Middlecreek Area Community YMCA receives continued support from Lozier Community Grants to make its toddler programming safer

In its third year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 57 nonprofit organizations across the country in 2024. Recipients were selected by employee committees in all five Lozier locations. These are the 2024 recipient organizations’ stories of impact.

Middlecreek Area Community YMCA (MAC Y) started from a group of adults seeing a need for a place for children and families to play. Officially opening its doors in the early 2000s, it started as the Middlecreek Area Community Center. Through years of great leadership, the MAC Y has ebbed and flowed with its number of members; in 2024 it joined with YMCA, offering better benefits to its employees and drawing on the resources of the YMCA.

To keep toddlers safe in its expansive playground and green space, the Lozier Community Grant will support the MAC Y’s eight-phase playground improvement project. Its immediate needs are a fence around the toddler area to keep them safe. Another addition will be shade structures to offer relief on sunny days.

Executive Director Lindsey Anderson’s family has been involved with the MAC Y for years, and said just how important it was for the community. “Lozier has supported us in the past to help us switch all the lighting in our facility to LED, reducing our electricity cost; so Lozier’s support has more impact than just this community grant,” Anderson said.
