A recent recipient of Lozier scrap metal, Millard West students celebrated as they received a shipment from the North Plant. The scrapyard-bound steel was diverted to Millard West High School in Omaha and turned into a learning opportunity for some students the school’s Skilled & Technical Science programs.
The creative students turned the donated sheet metal into multimedia boxes, toolboxes and tap and die flowers. With the larger sheets of 13 gauge steel, the students learned to weld joints and plasma cut for coasters used to TIG weld onto tubing.
