Lozier shares opportunities with SkillsUSA students from across Nebraska, Pathways students at Omaha High School

Wednesday, Communication-Community Outreach Strategist Josh Gear spoke to two Mechatronics Classes at Buena Vista High School. The Omaha high school has a unique Pathways program where students choose from a variety of career preparation pathways. Lozier supports the SMART Technology – Mechatronics & Robotics pathway where Gear sits on the Advisory board.

Gear spoke to students about Lozier and skilled trades opportunities available at the company and in the industry. Students in the mechatronics class also prepare for careers through programs as Metropolitan Community College, receiving instruction and testing from the college’s faculty.

Over Salvation Army Kroc Community Center, SkillsUSA held an all-day event, hosting middle school students from around Nebraska in its programs. SkillsUSA invited Lozier to attend the event and tell students about careers in Skilled Trades and Manufacturing.

After a group session in the morning, more than 100 students rotated around classrooms learning from different business and industry partners. Lozier’s Community Outreach & Engagement Manager Ralph Kleinsmith told students about who we are and what we do along with sharing the increased need of people in skilled trades by 2030.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit education association that promotes and supports careers in the trades for middle school through college students. Lozier is a proud Sponsor of the Sates SkillsUSA Competition that is held each spring. This coming year, more than 1,000 High School and College students will compete in Grand Island, Nebraska. Many of Lozier’s Skilled Trades technicians were former SkillsUSA participants.
