Lozier to Simplify Product Labeling

Lozier to Simplify Product Labeling

Lozier Manufacturing and Distribution Centers across all sites are changing how product is labeled from using a License Plate Number (LPN) to a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN).

Currently, Lozier uses License Plate Numbers (LPN) to distinguish each product carton or item by giving each a unique LPN. In an effort to avoid data issues within Oracle, Lozier sought out a new, more efficient system.

Beginning in December 2024, Lozier started transitioning from LPNs to using Global Trade Item Number, also called GTINs. A GTIN is a globally unique number that identifies a trade item, such as a product or service. GTINs are used in many business processes, including online marketplaces, distribution and logistics, warehouse or inventory management, and point-of-sale.

“GTIN labels are straightforward since they don’t contain any data, which simplifies processing. This upgrade has helped us tackle data corruption problems and could also be a plus for our customers. They can take advantage of these labels if they’re set up to handle them,” said Fredy Catano, Sr. Business Analyst – IT and Supply Chain.
