In its second year, the employee-led Lozier Community Grant program supported 50 nonprofit organizations across the country. Recipients were selected by employee committees in all five Lozier locations. Over the next couple of months, the recipient organizations’ stories of impact will be shared on LozierLink.
Surrounded by forests sits a large cabin in the woods north of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, frequented by schools and groups holding events in nature. A group of buildings make up a Penn Roosevelt State Park’s camp and lodge, centered around a large hall, recently renovated with modern comforts. It’s where the camp President Jamey White grew up attending camp and later met his wife.
“Lozier’s grant will help us tremendously in achieving our goal of getting the bathhouse completed so we can get more active for more youth activities up here,” White said. “We want people to be comfortable up here and enjoy the outdoors.”
The Lozier Community Grant helped fund some for the constructions costs of the renovated bathroom facilities which haven’t been updated since the new cabin construction.
While the facilities in the large cabin are enough, sleeping cabins surrounding the area don’t have enough facilities so a military surplus shipping container bathroom has provided extra capacity when needed. Lozier’s grant enabled Penn Roosevelt State Park to complete half the bathroom while they secure funding for the other half of the renovation.
