Scottsboro welcomes first Sponsorship for the Trades signing with celebratory event

Scottsboro’s newest Tool & Die employee arrived to work with plenty of special celebration Thursday.

Sawyer Jones visited the plant to officially sign as the operation’s first Sponsorship for the Trades participant. Joined by his parents, Jones signed his paperwork following comments from Andy Lozier and Scottsboro Maintenance-Tool & Die Manager Adam Mason.

“Sawyer, we’re happy to have you. 20 years ago, I was you!” Mason commented, comparing his career pathway to Jones. “It’s been a good rewarding career for me, and I hope it is for you.”

“A lot of the business that we’ve been winning is very tool & die intensive, very maintenance intensive. They’re skillsets we need for the future.” – Andy Lozier

“We want to continue to invest in the talent in our communities and bring in people who are interested in the skilled trades and the things we do with the skilled trade,” Andy Lozier added. “We’re really excited to build that out in Scottsboro because we have the same need for more skilled labor.”

Jones started work at Lozier Monday, building his on-the-job abilities in Tool & Die in advance of finishing his schoolwork at Northeast Alabama Community College’s Industrial System Technology program. Scottsboro’s newest employee said he’s ready to get to work.

“I’m excited, a little nervous though,” Jones said when asked about the Sponsorship program. “They pay for your college, it’s a great opportunity to learn new things and get experience out of it.”
